History
In 1996 Walter-Georg Veeck and Torsten Zerfaß founded VeZerf - Laborsynthesen GmbH located at Idar-Oberstein, in the Tiefenstein quarter of the city.
In order to meet the challenge of offering chemical syntheses on laboratory scale as a special service, the firm had built up a laboratory with 2 workplaces in a room adjacent to the premises of a metalworking company.
Based on the previous university careers of the partners and general managers, who, by the way made up the complete workforce initially, the main field of production were organic syntheses based on application of the Schlenk-technique on a scale of reactors up to 10L, with special emphasis on substances based on trivalent phosphorus.
Soon, however, this range was expanded to include a variety of syntheses beyond phosphorus chemistry, for instance, the synthesis of metabolites, impurity standards as well as building blocks and agents for the pharmaceutical sector were added to the production range.
In order to accommodate the higher need for space caused by the increasing business, in 2001 the firm relocated its facilities to the industrial area called «Am Kreuz», situated at the Georg-Weierbach quarter of Idar-Oberstein.
Today the synthesis laboratories and the corresponding analytic section offer employment for 3 qualified chemists and 2 laboratory assistants.
The field of work now includes syntheses in general, usually of organic nature, from all areas of chemistry, ranging from mg-scale up to syntheses in 30L reactors, always involving the required analytical processing.
